Simple Subtle Elegance

I tend to notice different aspects of design, and the style I tend to like the most ends up being centered around a simple and subtle elegance. I prefer this over something that consists of many ornate or extremely complicated patterns. Too often the ornate draws your attention, but the details remain on the surface and although they might have depth in their details it is usually very obvious at first glance. I find that the simple and subtle details are what I appreciate more with time, because when a subtle and simple design is used to emphasize elegance, the details are not on the surface but buried into the slight variations and over time you discover more of those subtle variations. It's appreciation may not be instantly recognized and impressive at first, but it tends to grow over time and retain a longer lasting and precious quality.

  • Agreed! The beauty is often found in the refined and classic (which by hap chance is usually simple and subtle.) Well said... I shall enjoy getting to watch you discover more and more subtle variations as time goes on, it is fascinating and wonderful to see the way you think and see things. :)

  • Ah, simply elegant. I've heard you speak like that before, I know what you mean. Or I could say, "That has a nice ring to it."

  • I totally agree! That's you! Subtle, simple, and elegant. I like much in the same! I like what you said about patterns and visual things and details and how they are noticed and all. The last sentence is great! I love the way you see things!

  • ...and no that does not give you provocation for saying what you think is not subtle... even if you might claim you were being subtle... my statement refelcts that the subtlety could be improved...

    ...so don't say it!
